SDG 6 Progress Reports

Reflecting on a decade of progress and shaping the vision for the future.

The Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) Synthesis Report on Water and Sanitation 2026 will serve as the United Nations system’s collective input to the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) during its in-depth review of SDG 6 in July 2026.

Reflecting on a decade of implementation, the SDG 6 Synthesis Report 2026 will assess progress towards ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030. It will explore how SDG 6 has driven action at both national and global levels, strengthened policy coherence, and fostered inclusive dialogue across sectors and stakeholders.

The report will be a key output of Priority Collaborative Action 1.2 of the Collaborative Implementation Plan 2025–2028 of the UN System-wide Strategy for Water and Sanitation, which requires the UN system to provide evidence to strengthen its leadership on SDG 6 and strategically contribute to the negotiations on a possible post-2030 agenda.

By mapping practical pathways and long-term opportunities, the report aims to inspire collective commitment and innovation now and in the next phase of global development.

The SDG 6 Synthesis Report on Water and Sanitation 2026 will be launched at the High-level Political Forum in July 2026 and made available on this page.
